State of TN RFA for Maternal Child Health initiative
Guided by the Maternal Health Strategic Plan, Infant Health Strategic Plan, Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs), Maternal and Child Health 2026-2030 Priorities:
- Increase Access to Contraceptive Methods,
- Improve Maternal Mental Health and Wellbeing,
- Improve the Perinatal Regionalization System,
- Decrease Preventable Illness and Disease Among Children,
- Improve Social Emotional Wellbeing in Adolescents,
- Increase Access to Quality Care for Children and Youth with Special Healthcare Needs, and
- Improve Nutrition Among Families,
- or other applicable statewide frameworks.
Applicants will propose projects that strengthen the maternal/infant and child health rural health systems of care.
This funding opportunity supports projects that improve maternal/infant and child health outcomes in rural communities, including women of reproductive age, pregnant and postpartum individuals, infants (up to age one), and children through age 18, including those with special healthcare needs. Proposed projects will address rural health needs and identify gaps in care and implement targeted interventions to improve to expand services, training, or preventive education to increase access to care, improve quality and continuity of services, enhance system coordination, and ultimately improve health outcomes.
Applicants will choose one of the following funding categories:
• Option 1 (small projects): up to $1,250,000 across 5 years
• Option 2 (large projects): $1,250,001 - $12,500,000 max across 5 years
The State is seeking applications to provide the services outlined in this RFA. The State intends to award up to 100 grants for a period of 50 months, with an expected effective period from August 1, 2026, to October 30, 2030, and with a maximum grant amount of up to $12,500,000 across five years.
