Certificate in Facilitation, Training and Curriculum Design
Facilitated by Dr. Bev Vitali, TNN Leadership and Capacity Building Fellow
Great training doesn’t happen by accident.
It is designed with intention, delivered with skill, and measured by what people do once they’re back at work. This certificate gives nonprofit professionals a complete toolkit for leading learning that lasts, whether you’re facing a virtual room, a boardroom, or a community gathering.
This isn’t a program where you sit back and listen. Over seven Friday mornings online, you’ll learn alongside nonprofit peers, practicing new skills and getting honest feedback every step of the way. The program closes with a full day in person, where you’ll lead a session of your own and leave with your certificate in hand.
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
• Adult Learning Principles: Design for relevance, autonomy, real-world problems, and respect for the experience learners bring.
• Training and Curriculum Design: Build sessions from purpose to closure, with clear objectives, purposeful activities, and reflection.
• Virtual Facilitation Excellence: Manage cognitive load, energy, and engagement so online learning feels connected, not passive.
• Managing Difficult Dynamics: Handle conflict, silence, resistance, and power while keeping the space brave and psychologically safe.
• Nonprofit-Sector Facilitation: Lead board conversations, community engagement, and coalition meetings with a servant-leadership ethic.
• Assessment, Feedback and Continuous Improvement: Measure what matters using modern approaches such as Thalheimer’s Learning-Transfer Evaluation Model (LTEM).
• Live Facilitation Skills: Use presence, room design, and real-time adjustment to lead in-person learning that lands.
