Tennessee Nonprofit Network, in partnership with United Way of Greater Chattanooga, is proud to announce the launch of the CEO's Guide to Board Governance: Chattanooga/Hamilton County cohort, a new 7-month program designed to support nonprofits in strengthening their board governance practices. This program is a learning experience that equips CEOs with the essential knowledge and skills to lead their boards effectively.
This cohort provides a holistic approach to board governance enhancement, ensuring that participants gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. It will equip CEOs with the tools they need to:
- Clarify roles and responsibilities: Understand the distinct roles of board members versus the CEO, eliminating confusion and fostering clear accountability.
- Articulate board member commitments: Effectively communicate the individual commitments of board members, including fundraising, fiscal oversight, and legal obligations, to create a culture of active participation.
- Differentiate governance and management: Distinguish between governance and management support, clarifying the board's strategic role and preventing micromanagement.
- Cultivate healthy relationships: Develop skills to foster productive CEO/board relationships based on trust, collaboration, and mutual respect.
Ideal Candidate/Requirements:
- Currently work as a CEO of a nonprofit in Chattanooga (Hamilton County)

Ability/Willingness to commit to a 7-month program
- Willingness to attend all in-person and virtual sessions
- Willingness to complete assignments between sessions
